Two triples but no R or RBI

Posted by Andy on September 22, 2008

Here are guys from 1956 to have at least 2 triples in a game with no runs scored and no RBI. (Nobody has ever had 3 triples in a game and also 0 R and 0 RBI.)

Perhaps the most amazing thing about this list is the fact that David Ortiz once had two triples in a game. If Edgar Martinez had been on this list, I would have fainted. (Actually, Gar did have a 2-triple game.)

  1. Note the team record of 3-11 in these 14 games.

  2. those 3 wins were in 3 straight years and all NL games. only 2 of the loses were NL games. I wonder if there's something to that.

  3. i'd pay top dollar to see Papi run out wo triples in a single game!

  4. Wasn't Harry Chiti the only player to be returned back to his original team after a trade for a "player to be named later"?
