Last night, the Rangers became the second team this year to score 17 runs in a game and lose. Oops.

    Using one of the other gadgets on this site turns up two post-1901, pre-Retrosheet examples of teams allowing 17+ runs and not losing; the Cubs won a game 26-23 in 1922, and the Athletics won a game 18-17 in 1932. The Cubs game was 25 August, against the Phillies; the Athletics game was 10 July, against the Indians.
