By the end of his career he was a guy who didn't play defense, didn't do much of anything except pop an occasional HR, and was kind of a jerk to boot. Sure, if he was a nicer guy, <i>maybe</i> he gets another chance, but who needs a DH with a .255 OBP? 35 HR or not, he wasn't a good player at that point. Now Barry Bonds, he got blackballed. I always believed he was black balled bv MLB as he would have hit 500 homers had his career not ended in 1987. His record of 35 homers for a player in his last season will stand for a long time.
