Worst Postseason Game Score

Posted by Raphy on October 18, 2009

Hiroki Kuroda's game score of 19 tonight was the worst so far this postseason (oddly enough the second worst was by three pitchers all on the same day.). However, it was not even close to being the worst in postseason history. That honor belongs to Todd Stottlemyre who recorded an 8 in the 1996 NLCS. Here are the all time worst:

Some teams have started with a dud, but lived to tell the tale. Here are the worst starts for teams that would eventually win the game.

  1. DoubleDiamond Says:

When I first glanced Todd Stottlemyre's name in the introduction, I thought it was going to be that 15-14 game in 1993, which he also started. But the lead changed hands so much in that one that only his opposite number, Tommy Greene, shows up in the list for that one.

  2. Pete Alexander, Three Finger Brown, Tom Glavine (twice!) - odd to see such good pitchers on a list of bad performances.
