Quick note on Albert Pujols
A quick follow-on to my article earlier today about David Ortiz about what Albert Pujols has done in his last 162 games.
Here are the numbers that would be career highs for Pujols if they were for one full calendar season:
HR: 52
RBI: 153
BB: 113
OPS: 1.160
Yeah...nice.

Is there a way to find this stuff using the Play Index?

Not the Play Index--just the built in features of the site. I just summed Pujols' last 162 games by going to his game logs for 2009 and following the directions posted there.

Right, but how did you do it for every day of Ortiz's career?

Ah--I pasted all of Ortiz's game logs into Excel and then extracted and summed the relevant data.
Every time I do an Excel chart, it's pretty obvious I think. In those cases, you can always assume I'm doing additional manipulation of the data beyond what you can get straight from the PI. Raphy does this too sometimes but he's more elegant about it than I am.

You can also just look up a player's totals over the past year (may not be exactly 162 games) near the top of his splits page (but I can't paste the link!!!)

Fantastic, I love Excel, and as a new B-R PI subscriber I can't wait to merge these two toys.
