Wow, so, Matt Stairs is the leader for guys playing for at least 11 franchises. How about 12, then?

These searches are all from 1901 to present, and Morgan is the only guy who registers as having played with 12 franchises. Even kicking it back to 1871, Morgan is the only one. So does he count as a record holder even though he didn't hit any homers? Well, at least he is the leader for most every other offensive stat--such as career leader in RBI (15) for guys playing with 12 teams.

  1. Deacon McGuire played for 12 teams (unless some of the teams that look different on his page really count as the same) and hit 45 home runs. I expect he beats Morgan on all the other offensive stats as well.

In January 2002 David Vincent found just two players who had hit home runs for 10 teams, Tom Brown and Dan Brouthers. Have Stairs & Zeile hit homers for all 11 teams they've played for?

  2. Zeile hit 5+ HR for all 11 teams.
Stairs only hit HR for 10 teams.
McGuire's 1891 Washington team in the AA moved to the NL and that was the team he played for from 1892 to part of 1899. So only 11 teams.
